ANZAC DAY 2021

Event: Anzac Day --Sunday 25th April 2021.

This letter serves as a notification for scheduled road clossures within The Entrance to coincide with the Anzac Day Commemorative Services.

As part of the Australian Federal Government Strategy for Protecting Crowded Places, Tuggerah Lakes District Police has advised that there may be delays in accessing your premise through this peroid. It is advised that if your vehicle movement is not necessary to find alternative options, including business deliveries. Movement of resident vehicles in and out will be at the discretion of the Chief Inspector, Tuggerah Lakes District Police. The objective of the road closures is to protect the lives of people working in, using and visiting crowded places by making these places a safe environment for all.  

The following temporary road closures will take place:

Sunday 25th April 2021 
Dawn Service :  Will commence at 5.30am in Memorial Park
 
Road closure start time:   10.45am
Road closure finish time :  1.00pm 
Event type: Anzac Day Services and March 
Location: Memorial Park and Cenotaph, Marine Parade.
  

From 10.45am Marine Parade will be closed from Coral Street to Beach Street. The Entrance Road will be closed from Denning Street to Marine Parade. Denning Street will be closed from Taylor Street to The Entrance Road.

Note: Road closures subject to change at the direction of Tuggerah Lakes District Police.

On the day listed above, the roads will be fully closed with limited resident or business acess. During this peroid, we ask that you please follow the detour signage that will be installed. Pedestrian access will still be permitted throughout this peroid.

We are saddened by the loss of Phil Phillips who passed away on Sunday 26th January 2020. Phil was a valuable member of the Management team for 11 years and was involved in Pensions work. On behalf of the members of the Sub branch we offer our condolences to Dot and the family.

Petty Officer Harold M Doyle


Tribute

Friends and Family we are assembled to pay our final tributes and to bid farewell to our comrade in arms Petty Officer Harold Martin Doyle, Service Number: R29127 who proudly and faithfully served his Country in the last World War as a member of the Royal Australian Navy.

 

Harry, as he liked to be known, enlisted on February 12th, 1946 and served with distinction till he was honourably discharged on February 11th, 1958. Harry saw service with HMAS Cerberus, HMAS Penguin, HMAS Lonsdale, HMAS Albatross, HMAS Warramunga and HMAS Tobruk. Petty Officer Doyle was awarded the Australian Active Service Medal 1945-75 with Clasp Korea, the Korea Medal, the Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with Clasps Japan, FESR, Korea and PNG, the Australian Defence Medal and the South Korean Presidential Unit Citation. This truly was a great record in the service of one’s Country.

 

Harry transferred from Wyong RSL sub Branch to The Entrance Long Jetty RSL sub Branch in 2004 and was also a member of Mingara Bowls Club. On behalf of the President and members of these organisations, I extend to his family, his daughters Susan and Janice and son in law Dennis and to all his extended family, friends and loved ones our very deep and Sincere Sympathy. May he have a following wind and safe anchorage.

VALE: Warrant Officer Noel Clarence Haggett 1925 - 2014



We recently bid farewell to our comrade in arms,Warrant Officer Noel Clarence Haggett 433591, who proudly and faithfully served his country during the Second World War as a member of the Royal Australian Air Force.

Noel enlisted on April 24th, 1943 and served full war time service with distinction until he was honourably discharged on January 18th, 1946. 

Noel saw postings with 3 Wireless and Gunnery School at Maryborough; Air Gunnery School at West Sale; 11 Personnel and Despatch Centre at Brighton; 10 Squadron at Mt Batten and the RAF Station at Beccles in the United Kingdom. 

Warrant Officer Haggett was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Atlantic Star, Defence Medal, the War Medal 1939-45 and the
Australian Service Medal 1939-45. Truly a great record in the service of one’s country.

Noel was a life member of Bexley RSL sub Branch and on behalf of the President and Members of our organisation, I extend to his family, his sons Geoff and Garry and daughter-in-law Suzin, his daughter Pam and son-in-law Graham, his grandchildren Matt and Zoe, his sister Val and to all his extended family, friends and loved ones, our very deep and sincere sympathy.
